Christmas on 5th Street

Thursday night we got to enjoy one of the perks of living in Waco.  We took Avery to "Christmas on 5th Street" on campus.  It was SO much fun!  I love going back to campus.  It brings back so many memories and reminds me how much I enjoyed my time at Baylor. : )

We started off with free hot chocolate and cookies from Common Grounds. Yummy!

There were also had carriage rides, a petting zoo, and ice skating.  There were long lines and we didn't have a lot of time so we skipped these activities.  And on a side note about the ice skating... It was not ACTUAL ice skating, but more like a bunch of cutting boards put together for people to skate on.  I had never seen that before and I thought it was ghetto, but the kids seemed to enjoy it.  I just hope Avery never expects me to pay for her to fake skate!

Our next stop was the live Nativity.  I LOVED this and appreciated the focus on Christ in the celebration.

The little boy by "Mary and Joseph" was so cute!  As they attempted to stay in character, he was giving them high fives. Ha!  From here we decided to check out what was inside the SUB.  As we entered, we discovered a long line waiting to see SANTA!  I was very excited because I wanted to take Avery to see Santa, but I wasn't sure where to take her in Waco.  The thought of taking her to the Richland mall didn't thrill me so I was pleasantly surprised to see the opportunity present itself.  She did better than I thought she would.  It was past her bed time so she didn't smile, but she didnt' cry either.

Waiting in line

I hope she told him she wants a little kitchen!  : )

We had a great time!  I think we may have just started a Christmas family tradition!!!!  At least as long as we live in Waco. Ha!
